Current Park and Trail Closures / Cautions
Mill Creek Ravine - Trail Caution
City of Edmonton Drainage Services will be conducting slope erosion repair in Mill Creek Ravine in the following areas: 83 Street and 69A Avenue, and just south of Mill Creek Pool at approximately 82 Avenue and 95 Street. Sections of these two areas adjacent to the trails have been cordoned off with fencing in order for the creek erosion repairs to take place. Trails will not be affected by this construction. Work is slated to last until January 15, 2014.
Riverside Granular Trail - Closure
The entire section of trail between Rowland Road (Dawson Bridge) and the east end of Riverside Golf Course is closed indefinitely.
Wolf Willow Granular Trail - Closure
The trail between the pedestrian bridge and the wooden staircase north of the bridge is now closed due to slumping of the bank. Obey all signs and barricades. Please use the trail access point at Woodward Crescent to access Fort Edmonton footbridge
Queen Elizabeth, Rossdale and Kinsmen Parks
Over the next 3 years, construction of the new Walterdale bridge will have an impact in and around the area of the current bridge structure. As a result, pedestrian and cyclist movement in the area will be affected. The park space and trails affected during the construction period are the lower portion of Queen Elizabeth Park, the lower gravel trail in Kinsmen Park and the parks area and trail around the EPCOR generating station. To ensure pedestrian and cyclist safety, the trails will be closed on January 7, 2013 and will remain closed until construction is completed in 2015. For your safety, please stay away from the closed areas during construction. For more information please visit www.edmonton.ca/walterdalebridge or contact: Transportation Services at 780-944-7690
Whitemud Park South - Twin Brooks
The City of Edmonton has identified a substantial slide on the east bank of Whitemud Creek where it borders the community of Twin Brooks. The broken-away portion of the top of the bank has encroached onto the granular, public walking path that runs just behind the houses backing toward the ravine. The closed section of trail falls between 9B Avenue and 119 Street through to 12 Avenue and 119 Street. The City has barricaded and signed off a section of the unstable valley slope to ensure the safety of residents and trail users in this area. Please use the residential sidewalks along 119 street to bypass this area.
Whitemud Park North - Grandview, Brookside Area
A section of the granular trail approximately one kilometer south of Fox Drive (Alfred Savage building) has been closed due to erosion problems. A signed detour route is in place. Please use the Brookside trail to 53 Avenue and follow the top of bank route along 142 Street to the shared use pathway at Whitemud Freeway.
