School Programs
Open to all schools, these programs can be tailored to accommodate any size group or length of time.
Please note:
- Programs can be booked through the Program Coordinator at 780-496-2983.
- All gear and safety equipment is supplied.
- There is modified equipment available for people with physical disabilities.
- All staff are fully trained and qualified.
- All staff are certified in Standard First Aid and/or Wilderness First Aid.
- Programs may cancel due to weather.
- Pricing is subject to change with out notice.
Mobile Programs
The following is a list of programs that can be packaged up and brought to your local park or any River Valley Park by our staff. All we require is an open outdoor space. Programs can also be combined for an exciting large group event.
Cross-Country Skiing
Grade 5 - 12
Fun and safety are emphasized in this ski program. Practice your new skills while you play games and tour the site.
GPS and Navigation
Grade 7 - 12
Learn how to use a Global Positioning System for navigation and recreation! We teach the practical uses of GPS, a basic understanding of coordinate systems and navigational techniques using handheld GPS devices.
Geo-Caching
Grade 4 - 12
Explore the tools needed for the world-wide scavenger hunt known as geo-caching! (An understanding of map use and navigation prior to the program is suggested.) Ask about our pre-set geo-caching courses, located in several river valley parks!
Ice Skating
Grade 1 - 12
We provide the skates, helmets, and fun! Come play games and enjoy the local rink! Play old fashioned and new games with our staff.
Initiative Tasks
Grade 5 - 12
Build an understanding of group communication and teamwork by facing challenges and problem solving activities as a group.
Orienteering and Navigation
Grade 3 - 12
Learn to find your way! Acquire navigation skills including map reading and compass work. Ask about our new advanced mapping program!
Outdoor Skills
Grade 1 - 12
Learn survival and camping skills such as shelter building, fire building, safe knife and axe use. Ask us about outdoor cooking opportunities including bannock.
Predator and Prey Game
Grade 5 - 12
Experience first hand how animals survive and thrive! This classic game is a fantastic demonstration of the dynamics of a food chain and animal survival techniques. This game works best in a large, well forested area.
Snowshoeing
Grade 1 - 6
Learn how to travel using Canada’s traditional mode of transportation - classic beavertail style snowshoes! Play games and experience a winter landscape through a new perspective. Great for younger students!
Grade 7 - 12
Try out our aluminum snowshoes - a modern take on Canada’s earliest form of winter travel. Learn to run, climb, and descend steep hills, and step boldly where no bare snow boot has gone before.

Archery
Grade 4 - 12
Queen Elizabeth Compound
Bull’s eye! Learn about the equipment and discover the basics of archery, while practicing aim and accuracy.
Cross-Country Skiing
Grade 3 - 6: Gold Bar Park
Grade 7 - 12: Victoria Driving Range
Try out the groomed tracks at one of our cross-country skiing sites. This program focuses on safety and fun experiential learning. Learn new skills while you play ski-friendly games with our instructors!
Fishing

Hermitage Park
Experience the joys of fishing! Learn how to cast and reel them in, as well as a bit about the nature of fish. Have fun at the dock practicing your new skills!
Low Ropes
Grades 4 - 12
Queen Elizabeth Compound
The low ropes challenge course is a unique opportunity for individuals to work through obstacles while being supported by their peers.
Mini-Mountain Biking
Grade 1 - 3
Rundle Park
Increase your confidence on a bike at a learner-friendly site. We provide bikes, helmets, and optional training wheels for young riders. Our instructors focus on safety and fun in this experience based program.
Mountain Biking
Grade 3 - 6: Gold Bar Park
Grade 7 - 12: Kinsmen Park
Get on a bike, strap on helmet, and follow our instructors to explore the bike trails of Edmonton’s river valley.
Snowshoeing
Grade 1 - 12
Rundle Park

Canoeing
Grade 4 - 12
Rundle Park, Hermitage Park
Learn the importance of teamwork and communication as you canoe in pairs. Basic strokes, safety, and fun will be emphasized. Paddling at Rundle offers the safety of a small area and equipment suitable for smaller paddlers. All instructors are Paddle Canada certified.
Overnight Out Trips
Let us help your group plan and lead an overnight adventure in the outdoors! Trips include all safety equipment and instruction, and additional group camping gear is available. Pricing is based on program size, duration, and equipment needs. Please call 780-496-2983 to discuss program details and scheduling.
Voyageur Canoeing
Grade 7 - Adult
Start your trip as far upstream as Devon and spend the night on Big Island or at one of Edmonton’s River Valley Parks. Spend your evening learning camping skills, trying some outdoor cooking, and playing nighttime games. All staff are Paddle Canada certified instructors.
Mountain Biking
Grade 10 - Adult
Is your group ready to take their biking skills to the mountains? We’ll supply the bikes, helmets, and biking guides so that you can explore the trails of Jasper National Park in a whole new way. Groups must be strong cyclists and prepared to book their own transportation and accommodations. All Out Trip staff are certified in Wilderness First Aid.

Voyageur Canoeing
Grade 4 - Adult
Group size: 10-48 participants
Enjoy the sights as you paddle down the North Saskatchewan River in a 32-foot long, 12-person canoe! Come paddle with us down the North Saskatchewan River as we discover physical, natural and historical highlights of Edmonton’s River Valley.
This program can be enhanced with a stop at Fort Edmonton (subject to availability). Please call for more information.
