River Valley Off Leash Sites

Off-leash Site Description

Brander Gardens

Walkway north of 58 Ave. between Brander Dr. and Whitemud Dr.

Buena Vista - Great Meadow

North of Laurier Park and Buena Vista Dr. south of Melton Ravine (approx. 88 Ave. ). Does not include pedestrian bridge access trail, as well as Yorath property and trail north to McKenzie Ravine.
This is a hot-air balloon site; please leash your dog when balloons launch.

Capilano hiking trail

Capilano Bridge, lower granular trail east to Hardisty Dr. and 56 St.

Dawson Park

Dawson Park and granular trail on north side of Dawson Bridge to Capilano Bridge to 50 St. Keep dogs on leash when crossing bridges.

Gold Bar hiking trail

Capilano Amenity Building north side, east along lower granular trail to Rundle footbridge; excluding shelter and picnic area.

Hermitage Park North

Multi-use area in valley north of fishing pond and picnic area. 129 Ave. to 137 Ave. 
Also 22 St. along riverbank where signed off leash.

Jackie Parker Recreation Area

South of service road and west of 50 St. and 44 Ave. Does not include golf course, area north of service road, and ravine area north of the ravine bridge.
Off-leash in highlighted area only. All other areas on-leash on path only.

Kennedale Ravine

Ravine west of 40 St. loop west to 47 St. and to top of bank.

Mill Creek Ravine South

From 50 St. and 44 Ave. , to 34 St. and 34 Ave. Granular trail in ravine area only.

Mill Creek Ravine North

Access is from 68 Ave. and 93 St. (west side of Argyll Park) or north side parking lot of Argyll Park. The granular trail along bottom of ravine to 82 Ave. overpass is the only part of the site that is off leash.

Patricia Ravine

Granular hiking trail between Patricia Heights, Rio Terrace and Westridge from Whitemud Dr. to river.

Riverside hiking trail

South bank granular trail from low level bridge to Rafter's Landing. From lower Forest Heights to east end of Riverside Golf Course.

Terwillegar Park

Park access via Rabbit Hill Rd. This is a multi-use area.

Whitemud Park and Hawrelak trail 

Multi-use granular trail from Whitemud Park to footbridge. Excludes old Keillor Rd. and designated equestrian trail.
