Important Changes to Picnic Reservations for 2012

Picnic sites are available for use and reservation May 5 to October 8, 2012.  A minimum 4 hour reservation is required and submission of an application request a minimum of 4 business days in advance of the reservation date requested (all applications received with less than 4 business days notice of the requested date will not be processed or responded to). 

Failure to agree to the terms and conditions stated prior to completing the application process will deem the request to be “invalid”.

First-come, first-served picnic sites are allocated for your use in the event that you choose to not reserve a site, require less than a 4 hour reservation or for less than 4 business day application submissions from the date requested.  The first-come, first-served picnic sites are free of charge.

Refunds will not be issued for inclement weather, fire ban or conditions that do not warrant closure of the park.  Request to cancel your reservation must be received a minimum of 16 days prior to the reserved date in order to receive a partial refund. Cancellation requests meeting the 16 day notification will receive a refund, less a 5% administration fee.  All requests for cancellation received with less than the required 16 day notice are exempt of refund. Cancellations resulting from park closures will receive 100% refund.

Vehicle Access (permission to drive on grassed areas) will no longer be offered at Rundle Park and will be restricted in other parks to designated sites.

Inflatable equipment will be permitted at Hawrelak and Victoria Park designated sites only.

Due to completion of the Jackie Parker Park revitalization project in 2011, the fees in 2012 fees will be consistent with the standard hourly rates applied for picnic reservations.

Borden Park is closed for 2012 due to the park revitalization project, however, the tennis courts will remain open for public use.

Picnic reservations for Mill Woods Park are no longer required.  The sites are available for use on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Booking a site ensures it is reserved for your group’s use during the time requested and hourly rates apply (refer to schedule provided).  

Online or in person (14th Floor CN Tower) applications for reserved picnic sites accepted. All submissions will be prioritized and processed based on the date of submission as well as the reservation date requested.  Last minute requests (less than 4 business days) will not be responded to. 

Each reserved site has the following:

  • 1-12 picnic tables. Extra tables are available at an additional cost of $25.50 each.
  • A fire pit and/or camp stove is available for your use, however, you are required to bring/supply your own wood.
  • Power and water are available at specific sites only.
  • Access for inflatable equipment will be restricted to designated parks and picnic sites.  Proof of liability insurance will be required upon confirmation of your reservation.

All requests for booking picnic sites must be completed online or in person at the booking office located on the 14th floor of the CN Tower (10004-104 Avenue).  When completing your application, you are required read and accept the “terms and conditions for use” prior to submission. 

Note: applications will be processed based on the date of receipt as well as the reservation date requested.  

A booking coordinator will contact you at the time of processing your application to confirm and request immediate payment for your reservation.

Borden Park Picnic Sites Closed -Summer 2012

Borden Park picnic sites will not be available for booking for the summer 2012 season due to construction in the park.

Available sites include Capilano, Coronation, Emily Murphy, Goldbar, Hermitage, Jackie Parker, Laurier, Mill Woods, Rundle, Victoria, and William Hawrelak parks. Hourly price includes GST and requires a minimum 4 hour booking.
