Edmonton Parks are the site of many varied events each year. There are festivals, entertainment and educational events for everyone.

Parks - "Healthy, by Nature" - Event News



Arbor Day
Celebrated on the Friday prior to May 10 at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park, next to the Valley Zoo. Attendees learn about tree pruning and watch local grade one students interact with trees and the people who maintain them. "Let's plant the seeds of our urban forest".

Canada's Parks Day
Celebrated on the third Saturday of July, each year. Canadians from coast to coast celebrate the importance of our parks and historic sites in this national event. Join our Park Rangers in Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park as they celebrate with a day of free family fun! Food, displays, games, nature scavenger hunt, and storytelling!

Capital City Clean Up - River Valley
Part of the Capital City Clean Up, it's an annual event that involves community volunteers who commit to a one-day clean up of litter in the river valley or a local green space.

Dragon Boat Festival
Celebrated in August, the festival takes place on the North Saskatchewan River at the Louise McKinney Riverfront Park, on a race course is that is approximately 400m long.

Earth Day Canada
Celebrated in April at Fort Edmonton Park, it is a chance for you and your family to learn about City of Edmonton’s environment programs, how to go green, take in great entertainment and win eco-friendly prizes.

Folk Music Festival
Celebrated on the second weekend in August, staged in beautiful downtown Gallagher Park.

Heritage Festival
Celebrated over the August long weekend in William Hawrelak Park, it features more than 60 pavilions from all over the world, showcasing culinary delicacies, creative performances and many more displays about their culture or ethnic background in Edmonton.

International Blues Festival
Celebrated in August, the festival showcases local, national and international blues talent in the scenic and intimate Heritage Amphitheatre located in William Hawrelak Park.

River Day
Celebrated on the second Saturday of June at Rundle Park. Spend a fun summer afternoon on the water with the whole family, learning all about safe and responsible river recreation.

Sourdough River Festival and Raft Race
Celebrated over two days in August throughout Terwillegar Park and in downtown Edmonton along the North Saskatchewan River, it has grown to become one of northern Alberta's most popular summer festivals.

Symphony Under the Sky
Celebrated over the Labour Day weekend in September, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and their fans take over the Heritage Amphitheatre in William Hawrelak Park to enjoy an amazing line-up of concerts.
