Pretty in Pink...Who Are You Thinking Of?

Pretty in Pink at the Muttart

June 25 - October 2

Every flower tells a story, and the Muttart Conservatory's newest Feature Pyramid display tells a powerful one. Created to honour those touched by breast cancer, the show is called "Pretty in Pink: Who Are You Thinking Of?"

The pyramid is filled with over a thousand flowers to create a sea of pink. The centrepiece is a vibrant floral arrangement in the shape of a pink ribbon, the iconic symbol of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Floating above the show is another pink ribbon created by local artist Mimi VonGaza.

Bob Dixon, one of the growers at the Muttart Conservatory, was inspired to create the show after his sister lost her battle with breast cancer. "I'm surrounded by beauty at the Muttart and I wanted to dedicate that beauty to my sister," said Dixon. "This display is very personal for me, but I hope it touches everyone who visits the Muttart this summer."

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is partnering with the Muttart Conservatory to launch Paint Canada Pink Week, which marks the kick-off to the fundraising campaign for the 2011 Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Sir Winston Churchill Square. Every Run for the Cure participant will receive a free admission to the Muttart Conservatory to view the Feature Pyramid display on October 2nd.

"We are honoured to work with the Muttart Conservatory on this unique floral tribute to those who have been touched by breast cancer," said Trish Bronsch, CEO of the Foundation's Prairies/NWT Region. "I encourage everyone to visit the Feature Pyramid throughout the summer and learn more about the disease."

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is the leading national volunteer-based organization in Canada dedicated to creating a future without breast cancer. The Foundation is proud to be celebrating 25 years devoted to raising funds in order to assist breast cancer research, education and awareness.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure is a fundraising event dedicated to supporting breast cancer research and community education and awareness programs.
