2012 Summer Daycamps

Calling all kids! Join one of our fun and popular summer daycamps for a week of nature exploration! You’ll journey through the pyramids, play awesome nature-themed games, get your hands dirty in our very own children’s garden, and create creative crafts. Choose from a variety of themes and dates. A lunch program is available for summer daycamps and is supplied by Culina Muttart. More information on this program is available at the bottom of this page.

Daycamp Forms

Prior to your child’s first day of camp, please print and fill out the camper information Daycamp Forms. If your child has medical concerns (i.e. severe allergies), please also fill out the
Medical & Epi-Pen Forms. Remember to bring the completed forms with you when you drop off your child for his or her first day of camp. 

Kinder-Gardeners

4 – 5 years

Join us for a new plant adventure every day of the week.  We’ll go on a pyramid scavenger hunt, taste some rainforest fruit, and explore the plants along the river valley trails.  Flex your green thumb as you help take care of our outdoor garden, pot your very own plant, and feed our composting worms.  Discover some amazing backyards bugs that help our gardens grow, and create some cool plant crafts to take home.  Let your little sprout bloom with us during this fun-filled half-day camp.

Paleo Plants

5 – 8 years

Let your imagination soar as you safari through the pyramids and river valley trails in search of some dino-sized fun. Touch trees that have been around since dinosaurs roamed the Earth, examine real plant fossils up close, and practice making leaf impressions. You’ll hunt for your very own dinosaur egg, crack it open, and build a habitat for the mini dinosaur inside. To make this camp “dino-rific,” we’ll host a special guest who is an expert on fossil plants and dinosaurs.

World Explorers

5 – 8 years

Join us for a weeklong journey around the world! We’ll explore the pyramids and learn about cultures from around the globe through fun-filled crafts, songs, and games.  First, we’ll travel to the tropics and discover where many tasty treats come from.  Then we’ll dash to the desert, where we’ll learn about arid traditions and even make our own piñatas! Our next stop is tromping through the temperate. On our last day, we’ll have a musical guest who will teach us songs from around the world using drums we make ourselves.

Growing Gardeners - SOLD OUT

Are you a green thumb looking to put your passion into action? This fun-filled week will keep you growing with enthusiasm. You’ll create your very own windowsill herb garden, pot a variety of veggie seedlings to take home, and even tend an outdoor garden. We’ll play games, make crafts, and take an exciting trip to a local farm where we’ll get our hands dirty, and if we’re lucky, take home some fruits or produce we harvest ourselves. Join other budding gardeners as we journey through the pyramids and beyond!

Nature Navigators

8 – 12 years

Navigate your way to Edmonton’s nature hotspots! We’ll explore the pyramids as we trek through the tropics and delight in the desert. Pot a cool plant to take home, play fun games, and explore the River Valley trails too. A trip to a local farm will be the next stop in our journey, where we’ll get our hands dirty, and possibly bring home some fresh fruit or produce we harvest ourselves. Our final destination is the Devonian Botanical Gardens, where we’ll experience the Japanese garden, chase butterflies, and spot some cool cacti. This camp is sure to entertain and excite.

Bloomin’ Art

6 – 9 years,
10 – 13 years

Botany is beautiful! With Muttart Conservatory as your backdrop, you’ll sketch, draw, and/or sculpt flowers and plants from around the world. Investigate the amazing patterns in nature while you learn different art techniques from a real artist.  Along with our artistic endeavours, we’ll pot a plant, create crafts, and take our talents outside to experience the river valley trails.  Join us on this journey through nature and art.

Lunch Program

Supplied by Culina Muttart

Available for Muttart Conservatory daycamps only. Lunches are available for daycamp participants! This convenient addition is just $40.00 per week ($8.00 per day) + GST. Culina specializes in creating healthy meals using locally-sourced ingredients. All lunches are served with a juice box and fresh fruit salad. Please let us know of any allergies and we will work with you to find alternative menu options. The lunch program does not include snacks or extra beverages. Bagged lunches will be provided on field trip days. Registrants under the Leisure Access Program choosing the lunch option will not receive a discount on the lunch fees. Qualifications for the Program are listed in this guide. To register in this program, please inform the 311 agent at the time of daycamp registration that you would like to add the lunch option.
