Zoo School

Imagine going to school for a week at the Zoo

Science class might mean taking field notes while you observe a gibbon brachiating around his enclosure. Math involves learning fractions for making an elephant popsicle and then practising measurement skills by weighing the popsicles and comparing weights.

These are just some of the amazing activities during a week at Zoo School, sponsored by Suncor Energy. This immersion into the zoo environment, funded by Suncor Energy, is available to 16 classes of students in all grade levels from Edmonton and the surrounding area. Classes are taught by the classroom teacher with the help and support of a certified teacher based at the Edmonton Valley Zoo.

This amazing experience provides students real learning in the real world with an in-depth educational experience that can integrate all areas of study.

Applications are taken in April for the following school year.

We are now accepting Zoo School applications for the 2012-13 school year. Please download, complete and submit your application package by April 13, 2012. Late applications will not be accepted.
