Hop to It! Easter Monday EGGstravaganza at the Edmonton Valley Zoo

Spring is in the air! Hop on down to the Edmonton Valley Zoo for an amazing Hop to It! Easter Monday EGGstravaganza! Guest will have the opportunity to visit the different spring baby animals including chicks and bunnies in the Easter Animal Petting Zoo. Check out the Live Butterfly Exhibit and learn all about these incredible creatures and the changes they experience throughout their life cycle. Next, drop by the craft station to construct a Musical Easter Egg or Butterfly Wings and then enjoy a variety of games and activities for young and old. Take your family on the Enrichment EGGstravaganza! - watch a variety of the Edmonton Valley Zoo animals go on their very own Easter Egg Hunt! Which animals will eat the eggs, play with them, or smash them? Everyone will enjoy learning amazing secrets about eggs with the hands on science experiments or learn fascinating facts about egg laying animals at a “Get Closer” talk. There will also be live music, face painting, Easter treats, animal encounters, and much more. It will be a hopping good way to celebrate your Easter Monday!

Musical Easter Egg & Butterfly Wing Crafts (Saito) Create a beautiful Easter Egg craft or Butterfly Wings! You can use them in the Enrichment EGGstravaganza!

Animal Encounters (Inner Zoo) Watch for Roving Interpreters.

Easter Animal Petting Zoo (Central Hall Program Space) Visit the Easter babies!

Hands on Science Experiments (Zoo School) Learn amazing secrets about eggs with the interactive and entertaining Hands on Science Experiments.

EGG-citing Airbrushed Face Painting by the Purple Team! (Learning Lair) Awesome airbrush art!

Easter EGGstravaganza Touch Table (Learning Lair) Can you guess which animals lay these different eggs?

Live Musical Entertainment (Inner Zoo) Enjoy the spring-time songs of Peter and Mary.

Live Butterfly Exhibit (Saito) Check out the Live Butterfly Exhibit and learn all about these creatures and the changes they experience throughout their life cycle.

EGGstravagant Memory Game (Saito) Do you have an EGGstravagant memory? Match the coloured eggs and see!

Time-specific activities

11am – 3:30pm EGGstravaganza! Scavenger Hunt (Saito) As you enter the gates you will receive an event hand out with the scavenger hunt card on the back! Use this card to search for EGG laying animals around the zoo! Bring the finished scavenger hunt card to the Saito Centre to win an EGGstravagant prize!

“Get Closer” Animal Talks

11am Elephant Talk (Elephant Yard) Learn about the life of an elephant. Watch Lucy receive her EGG shaped vegetable Easter treat! 

Noon “2012 Year of the Dragon” (Learning Lair) 2012 is the year of the Dragon – learn about the Edmonton Valley Zoo’s dragon-like animals - lizards and reptiles! 

1pm “All About Eggs” (Learning Lair) Fascinating facts about egg-laying animals.

2pm Arctic Animal Adaptations (Arctic Shores) Touch, see and learn all about different Arctic Animal Adaptations 

3pm Enrichment EGGstravaganza! (Saito & Inner Zoo) Follow the Public Interpreters as they go on an Enrichment EGGstravaganza visiting Edmonton Valley Zoo animals as they go on their very own Easter Egg Hunt! Will the animals eat the eggs, play with them, or smash them?!
