Amphibians

Get closer to our friends with many forms
Amphibians are cold-blooded creatures that can transform their shape over their lifetime to live both on land and in water. They start as legless tadpoles breathing through gills in water and munching on tiny plants. As they grow they change their shape, gaining legs for hopping or chasing after insects and slugs for dinner.
What makes amphibians different from the other animals?
- Most are born as legless tadpoles in the water and breathe through gills.
- They change their shape as they grow so they can live on land.
- They have to keep their skin moist.
