Edmonton Olympic Torch Relay
On January 13, 2010 Edmonton welcomed the Olympic Flame during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay.
The Olympic Flame was carried through the city by over 50 torchbearers. Over 15,000 spectators lined the torch relay route and participated in community celebrations featuring several local artists and talent.
At Churchill Square over 15,000 spectators gathered to cheer on Doreen Ryan as she carried the flame into the Square to light the celebration cauldron.
January 13 was a special moment in Edmonton history that will be remembered for years to come. Thank you to all those who participated and remember to keep that spirit alive while Canada takes on the world in the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Continue to show your support by decorating red and wearing red!
