Tour of Alberta
Tour of Alberta Day takes over Edmonton streets on Tuesday September 3, 2013.
Mayor Mandel calls on all Edmontonians to plan ahead to watch the international pro race through the streets of downtown Edmonton, celebrate at the Churchill Square bicycle festival, and make plans to embrace the Car-Free Zone from 4 to 9pm.
Cycle, walk or stay for the festivities as roads are closed to all vehicle traffic for the duration of the race.
Several streets in and around the downtown core will be temporarily closed to traffic in order to run a safe and effective event. During the event, access into and out of downtown will be best achieved on foot, bicycle or LRT. Closure of the race course will be in full effect from 5:15pm until approximately 9pm. Edmontonians wanting to head home prior to the event should leave downtown well before road closures are put into place.
Motorists should expect MAJOR DELAYS on all roadways from 82 Street to 112 Street, and 82 Avenue to 107 Avenue. Once the race has begun, motorists departing the downtown core will only be able to exit via the Low Level Bridge, the James MacDonald Bridge, or 97 Avenue.
