Tour of Alberta

The Tour of Alberta, Canada’s largest professional cycling race and one of Alberta’s biggest international sporting events, will return to Edmonton on Monday September 7, 2015. 

Stage 6, the final leg of the race, will start and finish in Churchill Square. Winding its way throughout central Edmonton, the excitement will be palpable as 120 competitors race 11 laps over an 11 km circuit. Cheer on the world's best professional cyclists as they race to the finish line.

Tour of Alberta Edmonton Festival

The Tour of Alberta Edmonton Festival, presented by ATB Financial, will feature local culture, entertainment, food and fun for the entire family. Visit the Subway Zone, the Canadian Brewhouse Beer Gardens and take a walk down Autograph Alley. This is a great opportunity for fans to get close to the action and meet professional cyclists from around the world!

The following road closures will be in effect. Motorists are urged to plan ahead to avoid driving delays.

NOTE: Once the race has begun, departure from the downtown core for motorists will only be available via the Low Level Bridge, the James MacDonald Bridge or 97 Avenue. Please allow additional time for motor vehicle travel in those areas.

Victoria Golf Course Access

If you're visiting the Victoria Golf Course & Driving Range on Monday September 7, please be aware of access limitations:
  • River Valley Road will be closed to general traffic from 9:30am to 6pm. However, traffic to and from the golf course will be permitted through a single access point. 

  • Access to the golf course will be via northbound Groat Road only, and access from the course will be via southbound Groat Road only.

  • Please leave extra time to arrive at the golf course during these times, as automobile traffic may be temporarily stopped to allow cyclists through.

We wish to thank our patrons for your understanding and patience during the event road closures.

Victoria Park

Access to the Victoria Park parking area will be restricted during the following times:

  • Monday September 7, from 9:30am–6pm
​Please note that access will be restricted the night prior, preventing early morning parking.​

Royal Glenora 

Access to the Royal Glenora Club is via 105 Street on Monday September 7.

Parking Restrictions

Parking will not be available along the race course from 8am to 6pm on race day. A number of meters will be hooded. Please obey all signs, as illegally parked vehicles will be tagged and towed.

Transit Detours & Bus Stop Closures

Some ETS bus detours will take place during the event and some bus stops will be temporarily relocated. The following routes will be affected from 8am to 5:30pm on Monday September 7, which is a statutory holiday and will therefore operate on a Sunday service schedule: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 15, 57, 86, 100, 130, 140 and 151. Please plan ahead, as major delays can be expected.

LRT service will not be affected.
