Colours and Textures

Grades: Preschool - Grade 1
Program Length: 1.5 hours (Preschool), 2 hours (K-Gr. 1)
Fees: $148

Take a sensory adventure through our pyramids! Students’ senses will be tingling as they learn how a variety of spectacular plants use colours, shapes and textures to help them survive in extreme conditions. Hunt for the colours of the rainbow in the pyramids as you learn all about creating colour and its importance in the natural world. Students will flex their green thumbs by potting a colourful seedling to take home.

Smarty Plants

Grades: 1 – 3
Program Length: 2 hours
Fees: $148

Explore the genius of the botanical world as we discover survival strategies that plants use to live in tropical jungles, temperate forests, and deserts around the world. Students will learn about plant parts by dressing a student (or teacher) up like a flower. They'll explore the pyramid from a bee’s point of view, and work together to determine the needs of plants. Their new knowledge will come in handy when they plant their own seedling to care for at home.

Little Ladybug and Friends

Grades: Pre-school – Grade 3
Program Length: 1.5 (Pre-school) 2 hours (Kindergarten - Grade 3)
Fees: $148
Available: September - October, February - June

Learn how the charming ladybug and other cool insects help our gardens grow! Through activities, games, and more students will learn all about our spotted friends. Experience the world through ladybug eyes, discover their life cycles, and help the conservatory by releasing some beneficial bugs into one of the pyramids! Your students will even pot a plant to take home.

Christmas Around the World

Grades: Preschool - Grade 3
Program Length:1.5 hours (Preschool), 2 hours (K-Gr. 3)
Fees: $148
Available: November 24 - December 19

‘Tis the season to enjoy the spirit of the upcoming holidays! Poinsettias, Christmas trees, frankincense, myrrh, holly, ginger, cinnamon, and ivy–so many plants play an important part in Christmas traditions. Students will have the opportunity to see and smell many of these important plants as they discover Christmas traditions from around the world.  To top off a tour of the pyramids, students will pot a festive plant to take home at the end of the program.
