Hands on History

The John Walter Museum is open on Sundays (March through November) and Saturdays (July through September)but visitors can experience the history of Walterdale and the river valley all year long (weather permitting).

Around the Museum there are small monuments and colourful interpretive panels full of historic images. Public historian, Kathryn Ivany, developed a self-guided walking tour of Walterdale  – spend a day in the river valley looking for remnants of the past! Why not search for hidden geocaches at the same time? Note: some areas are not accessible during the Walterdale Bridge construction – see Geocaching for details.
