Group Programs

Group Guidelines

  • The maximum group size is 30 children per program staff.
  • For ages 6 and up, 1 adult for every 5 children is included in the program fee.
  • For ages 5 and under, 1 adult for every 3 children is included in the program fee.

Group Bookings

Please be prepared with the following when requesting your booking:

  • Name of the program you are interested in
  • Variety of dates you can come
  • Mailing address, telephone and fax numbers for your group
  • Contact name and names of leaders for all programs being booked
  • Number of children attending
  • Number of supervisors (1:5 ratio is standard, unless otherwise stated in program description)
  • Special needs and accessibility arrangements

Summer in the Valley (Ages 5+)

Fee: $145
Program Length: 2 hours
Available: June- Sept.

Join us in the heart of Edmonton’s river valley for some good ol’ fashioned summetime fun! In this program, we’ll churn our own icecream and make delicious ‘no-bake’ truffles. Then we’ll head outside to help wash Mr. Walter’s wool socks and play a lively round of croquet.

Hands-on History (Ages 5+)

Program Length: 2 hours

Make your field trip go down in history with some hands-on fun. With John Walter's homes as your setting, you will dip candles, help out with some pioneer chores, examine artifacts, and cook up a tasty treat to enjoy!

Heritage Home Skills (Ages 9-15)

Fee: $145
Program Length: 2 hours
Available: Year-round

Discover what life was like over a century ago! A home of an early Edmonton settler meant no electricity or access to the types of foods we see on grocery store shelves today. In this program you’ll make candles, a simple jam, churn butter, and bake scones on a wood-burning stove.

Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

  • You are required to provide written notice of cancellation of your programs via email at cmsschoolbookings@edmonton.ca.
  • Cancellations with 4 – 30 days notice are subject to a fee of 50% of the program cost.
  • Programs cancelled with less than 3 days (72 hours) notice will be charged the full program fee.
  • Programs run rain or shine. In the event of poor weather, you must email cmsschoolbookings@edmonton.ca if you are not coming.
  • If you cancel due to weather conditions:
    • you will not be charged for re-scheduling in the same calendar year,
      OR
    • you will be charged 50% of the program cost if it is not rescheduled
