Birthday Packages

You will have a great old time with our pioneer themed birthday parties! Bake on a wood burning stove, churn fresh butter or build your own toy to take home! Your child will have a birthday that will go down in history at John Walter Museum.

Parties must be booked at least six weeks in advance. Book early to avoid disappointment! Payment for the program must be made at the time of booking.

As of 2014 our birthday packages now include a one hour room rental.

Fees & Group Size

• $210 (3 hr package)
• The maximum group size is 20 people, including parents and siblings.
• Additional guests above the maximum number of 20 adults or children will be required to pay applicable admission costs and will not be able to participate in the program activities.
• A minimum of 2 adults must stay with the children to assist with supervision.
• All fees, including optional additions (room rentals), must be reserved and paid in full at the time of booking. No refunds or additions for room rentals will be accepted once the booking has been placed.
• Program dates and times cannot be booked or held until payment is received.

Program Length

All party bookings are 3 hours in length and include a 2 hour program + 1 hour room rental.

Options

Room rentals must be confirmed and paid for at the time the birthday party booking is made. No refunds or additions will be accepted once the booking has been placed.

• Birthday child will receive a free t-shirt
• Extra t-shirts can be ordered for an additional fee
• One hour room rental is included with your birthday package
• Every child attending the party will receive:
  • One 50% discount off a single admission to an attraction (when a second admission of equal or lesser value is purchased)
  • One free single admission to a fitness and leisure centre (when a second admission of equal or lesser value is purchased)

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Policy (Birthday)

• You are required to provide written notice of cancellation of the birthday party via email at cmsbirthdaybookings@edmonton.ca.
• Cancellations with 4 – 30 days notice are subject to a fee of 50% of the program cost.
• Programs cancelled with less than 3 days (72 hours) notice will be charged the full program fee. 
• Programs run rain or shine. In the event of poor weather, you must call 780-496-7948 or email cmsbirthdaybookings@edmonton.ca if you are not coming.

Pre-school Pioneer Party

Ages 4 & 5

Children will have a great old time trying on old-fashioned costumes and playing party games of yesterday. They’ll bake cookies with a wood burning stove, make a simple toy, and try their hand at pioneer chores like washing Mr. Walter’s old wool socks!

Ages 6-12

Your child's birthday party will go down in history with a party that takes you back in time over 100 years! Celebrate with homemade baking, build an old-fashioned toy and play parlor games of yesterday.

Christmas Birthday Party

Ages 5-12

Enjoy a unique and festive party for your child’s birthday during the holidays. Bake some Christmas goodies on a wood burning stove and play old fashioned games. Discover how Christmas gifts were different over 100 years ago, and make your own traditional gift as a take home Christmas craft.

Program Length: 2 hours + 1 hour room rental

Old-Fashioned Baking Party

Ages 8-13

Something smells great in Mrs. Walter's kitchen! Bake and cook on a wood-burning stove to create a smorgasbord of birthday delights.
