Group Programs

Group Program Rates

$135 per program

Group Size

The maximum number of children permitted in a program is 30.  The maximum number of people (including adult supervisors) permitted in a program is 40.  Groups exceeding 30 children or 40 people must book an additional program.  

If a group arrives that exceeds a total of 30 children and/or 40 people, additional parents and children/siblings will be asked to pay facility admission fees and tour the facility on their own.  Additional participants can re-join the group after the registered program ends.

Adults are admitted with the program in the following ratios:

  • Ages 5 and under: 1 adult per 3 children
  • Ages 6 and up: 1 adult per 5 children

2015-16 Year Round Programs for Groups

Seasonal Super Sleuth

Ages 3-6

Search for clues by using your senses and observation skills to solve the mysteries of nature each season.  We’ll learn all about local animals through a hands-on exhibit and outdoor nature trail explorations. Visit the garter snakes, salamanders and honey bees too, and discover what they do to cope with the changing seasons.

Program Length: 1.5-2 hours. We recommend 1.5 hours for younger groups (3-4 year olds).
Available: Year-round

Stalking and Tracking

Ages 6-11

Discover Edmonton’s wildlife by identifying and following tracks in the mud (or snow). Learn how to approach animals so you can enjoy their beauty, play wildlife stalking games and use our animal track replicas to practice making different types of animal tracks.

Program Length: 2 hours
Available: Year-round

Nature Observer

Ages 6-11

Discover birds, trees, insects and other animals to learn about their lives. Activities are seasonally based but can include birdwatching, nature games, insect hunts and more. Handle artifacts, visit the honeybee hive and explore the exhibit room.

2015-16 Seasonal Programs for Groups

Snowshoe Adventure

Ages 7 and up

Travel on snowshoes while exploring the winter forest. Find out how winter wildlife adapts to cold weather and deep snow. (Snowshoe harnesses do not fit children 6 years-old and under.)

Program Length: 2 hours
Available: December to February (or as snow conditions permit)

Pond Exploration

Ages 7-11

Capture water tigers in your dip net, search for phantom midges, and look for birds and mammals that live near the pond. This program is full of exploration for curious kids. Led by a naturalist, you'll learn about some of the fantastic creatures that live in ponds. Meet a salamander or garter snake and play some nature games.

Program Length: 2 hours
Available: May-September

Busy Bees and Bugs

Ages 3-8

Peek inside a honeybee hive and discover the fascinating world of bees. Search for flowers, collect pollen, dance like bees, and taste honey in the comb! Learn to separate bee fact from bee fiction by handling inactive hives and nests. Explore the insect world that bees share by going on a mini-beast safari.

Program Length: 1.5-2 hours. We recommend 1.5 hours for younger groups (3-4 year olds).
