Nature Explorers (Ages 4–5) $160

We’ll hunt for a rainbow of colors around our forest and pond as we become nature explorers! We’ll spend our week examining the blue sky and pond by making cloud creatures. We’ll search for bugs in the water, go on nature walks to find red squirrels and robins, meet some pink wiggly worms that live in brown dirt, search for flowers that our yellow honey bees might like, and of course meet some new green friends. We’ll end the week by creating a rainbow out of the colors that we’ve discovered in nature!

If registering in both Nature Explorers and Super Senses camps for the same week, call 311 for over-lunch (noon–1pm) child care options.

To register, see Nature Explorers.

Super Senses (Ages 4–5) $160

Touch, smell, see, taste, and hear the River Valley all around as we explore the wonders of nature. We’ll test our noses on a smell scavenger hunt, compare our hearing to an owl’s, try matching furs to the correct animal, search for our favourite colors in the forest, and try some of nature’s tasty treats. As truly sense-ational superheroes, we’ll make superhero capes and masks to meet some new human friends who use their senses in super ways, just like us!

If registering in both Nature Explorers and Super Senses camps for the same week, call 311 for over-lunch (noon–1pm) child care options.

To register, see Super Senses.

Dino-Mania (Ages 5–7) $230

Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Stegosaurus and Spinosaurus! In this supersaurus- sized week of fun, we’ll talk about all these amazing animals, handle real dinosaur fossils, learn what Edmonton was like in the time of the dinosaurs and play some dino-tastic games. We’ll also go on a scavenger hunt for our very own dinosaur egg, crack it open, and build a dinosaur habitat for the mini-dinosaur inside. At the end of the week, we’ll spend a day at Jurassic Forest where we’ll see massive, life-sized dinosaurs that roar, growl and even move!

To register, see Dino-Mania.

Nature, That’s Gross! (Ages 5–7)

$220 (5 Days), $175 (4 Days)

Nature is full of some of the grossest things that can possibly be imagined. Animal poo, slime, and stinky smells are just a few of the amazing products of nature that your child will discover. We’ll take a trip to the Edmonton Valley Zoo to see what they do with all that poo, get our hands on some slimy worms, talk about owl pellets, and go on a smell scavenger hunt. By the end of the week, we'll be saying “cool,” instead of “gross!”

To register, see Nature, That's Gross!

NSI: Nature Scene Investigation (Ages 6–9) $200

There has been a crime at the Nature Centre! Your child will use their detective skills to help catch the culprit and become an NSI: Nature Scene Investigator. We’ll decode hidden messages, examine animal prints, make disguises, learn surveillance techniques, journey into the forests of Whitemud Ravine and discover secret facts about mysterious forest animals as we work together to try and crack the case!

To register, see NSI: Nature Scene Investigation.

Jurassic World (Ages 7–10)

$250 (5 Days), $230 (4 Days)

Let’s journey back in time to when dinosaurs ruled the world! We’ll explore the University of Alberta Paleontology Museum, examine real dinosaur fossils, experiment with preserving our own tracks, and even create our own mini volcano. We’ll also make small ‘meteoroids’ and talk about their big impact! To finish up the week, we’ll go to Jurassic Forest to experience life-sized dinosaurs as they move and rumble!

To register, see Jurassic World.

Wild For Art (Ages 7–10) $210

Get inspired by the wonders of nature in this wild art camp! We’ll practice natural techniques such as land art, build our own art tools from nature and discover how to make maure paint from plants. To register, see Wild for Art.

Great Outdoors (Ages 8–11) $260

Experience the Great Outdoors! This multi-attraction camp visits the Muttart Conservatory, Edmonton Valley Zoo, Rundle Park, and Whitemud Park. Eco–Quest (Ages 9–12) $235

Join us as we investigate the environment and see how we can reduce their impact on our planet! In this green-tastic camp, we’ll hunt for geocaches, tour the Edmonton Waste Management Centre to see how our city recycles and search the Reuse Centre for eco-craft supplies. We’ll investigate solar and wind energy, make our own re-useable shopping bags, propose a plan to help conserve one of Alberta’s animals and learn how to compost! We’ll also help our pollinator friends by spending some time in our pollinator garden and even make our own mini gardens to take home.
