Swift Fox

Habitat: open short & mixed grass prairies
Diet: small mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, insects
Life span: 3-6 years (10 years in captivity)
Young: 2-5 young/litter (pup)
Size: 2-3 kg (4.4-6.6 lbs)
Swift foxes take their name from their ability to run down prey at speeds of 60 km/hr (37 mph).
This fox relies on stealth and surprise to catch its prey. The swift fox is an opportunistic hunter. It will eat whatever food is available. When there is no prey, swift foxes will eat berries to survive.
