sulphur-crested cockatoo

Scientific name: Cacatua galerita

Young: 2–3 eggs/clutch

Size: 700–950 g (1.5–2.1 lbs)

Sulphur-crested cockatoos live in large flocks of between twelve and several hundred birds.

When eating the flock will designate a few birds to watch for predators, such as owls or monitor lizards. If a predator is seen the guards will emit an extremely loud scream that can be heard through the dense forest in which they live.
