Sulphur-crested Cockatoo

Scientific name: Cacatua galerita
Habitat: tropical and subtropical rainforest, savannah
Diet: seeds, nuts, fruits, insects
Life span: 40 years (up to 120 in captivity)
Young: 2–3 eggs/clutch
Size: 700–950 g (1.5–2.1 lbs)
Sulphur-crested cockatoos live in large flocks of between twelve and several hundred birds.
When eating the flock will designate a few birds to watch for predators, such as owls or monitor lizards. If a predator is seen the guards will emit an extremely loud scream that can be heard through the dense forest in which they live.
