Speckled Kingsnake

Scientific Name: Lampropeltis getulus holbrooki
Habitat: wetlands, grasslands, woodlands
Diet: rodents, lizards, snakes; also birds
Life span: up to 20 years
Young: 2-25 eggs/clutch
Size: 1.2 m (4.2 ft)
The kingsnake takes it name because it eats other snakes. Although non-poisonous, it has a natural immunity to snake venom, including that of rattlesnakes.
It is also called the salt and pepper snake because each scale has a white or a yellow dot.
Like a skunk, the kingsnake will emit a foul odour when threatened.
