The rouen clair duck is a domestic breed related to the mallards of Europe. In appearance they resemble wild mallards. They originated in the town of Rouen, France.
Rouen ducks were originally bred to be eaten. They are large in the chest area, making them too heavy to fly but they still swim well. Now these ducks are mostly kept as pets or show ducks.
