Green Aracari

Scientific name: Pteroglossus viridis
Habitat: tropical rainforests
Diet: fruit and insects
Young: 2 – 4 eggs/clutch
Size: 34 cm (13.5 in)
The green aracari, a member of the toucan (Ramphastidae) family. It has a colourful bill which can grow up to 10.2 cm (4 in) in length. Males have black feathers on their head and neck while females have reddish brown feathers. Both have green feathers on their back, giving this bird its name.
These birds spend most of their lives in the highest trees of tropical rainforests and drink and bathe in rain water that collects in tree forks or leaves.
