Children’s Python

Scientific Name: Antaresia childreni

Habitat: semi-desert, jungle

Diet: small mammals; lizards

Life span: 15-20 years

Young: 10-20 eggs/clutch

Size: 0.7-0.9 m (2.5-3 ft)

Named after John George Children, these snakes are the second smallest pythons in the world.

Children’s pythons are excellent climbers spending equal time in trees and on the ground. They will even climb up on cave ledges and catch bats that fly by.

Their calm and relatively docile nature has made these snakes popular as pets.
