Terwillegar Park is a perfect place for walking your dogs, cycling, running, or cross country skiing. Located in the southwest end of Edmonton, the 186-hectare park provides enough space for all visitors to enjoy their visit in relative peace and quiet.
Are you curious about the construction in the park? Learn about the new trails and footbridge under construction in Terwillegar Park. These two park improvements are part of the River Valley Alliance Projects, which will improve accessibility and connectivity in our river valley.
Temporary Parking Lot Closed
In December 2015, a temporary parking lot for the winter of 2015/2016 was built west of the existing Terwillegar Park parking lot. The temporary approval for the parking lot was limited to the winter months to prevent environmental damage to the area. Due to unseasonably warm temperatures causing ground softening, the temporary lot is now closed.
The City of Edmonton has begun the process to design a long-term gravel parking lot in the same location as the temporary lot. The process for building this long-term parking lot will be subject to detailed environmental studies, public consultation, and City Council approval. Citizens will have the opportunity to provide feedback and input on the project in 2016.
