AEC -IT - City of Edmonton Staff
This is a City of Edmonton course, run specifically for staff. As such, all attending are under the general juristiction and attendance management rules applicable in all situations when employed. Urban Beekeeping- CoE Staff Only
Have you always wanted to step out your back door and see your very own beehive? This 1 and 1/2 day course teaches the skills needed to have a successful hive. Topics covered in class include honeybee lifecycle, hive management, bee behaviors, bee and hive selection, and City of Edmonton regulations about urban beekeeping. On the second day, you'll get hands on with a hive learning proper hive set up, how to safely collect honey and deliver medications. After the course, you'll have the opportunity to be part of a mentorship community to assist with troubleshooting problems with your hive. Course textbook 'The Practical Beekeeper Vol 1' is included with course. This is an approved course for those interested in becoming an urban beekeeper in the City of Edmonton.
